2nd Birthday Gift Ideas

Zac recently turned two and I found it quite difficult thinking of birthday gift ideas for him. I think, because he is a March baby, it feels like his birthday is quite soon after Christmas. So I thought I would share some 2nd birthday gift ideas to help out any other mums struggling!

It will be mixture of presents Zac got for Christmas (when he was 21 months old) and his second birthday presents. I wanted to wait till after his birthday to write this so I could see which toys he played with and which ones he really liked!

Top Ten 2nd Birthday Gift Ideas

Leap Frog Learning Friends 100 Words Book

Zac got this as a Christmas present. It is suitable from 1 years old. It is an interactive book which has lots of colourful pictures which when touched say the word! Zac absolutely loves this book, it is great for helping toddlers learn new words. It is the perfect 2nd birthday gift as it is not only fun but also educational. If your child is bilingual it has a French mode too!

Tonies box

This is a relatively new toy on the market. It is a portable speaker suitable for toddlers which introduces them to the world of audio books! It says suitable from 3 years, but Zac uses it with ease and really enjoys listening to it. The box itself is fairly compact, comes in lots of beautiful colours and is wireless (just needs charging). You then buy additional Tonie characters which you can pop on top of the box – each Tonies character tells a different story or sings different songs.

We chose to get the Stick man and Zog story figures as Zac loves watching the TV adaptations of these. To go along side the Tonies box we bought him the Julia Donaldson classic books of these stories. This way he can look through the pictures of the book whilst his Tonies box read him the stories!

We also chose the Favourite Childrens songs character which sings lots of classic and recognisable songs such as Old Mac Donald Had a Farm, Girls and Boys Come Out to Play, The Wheels on the Bus and Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes.

Balance bike

This was Zac’s main present for his 2nd birthday. He is obsessed with Toy Story so when I saw this little balance bike we just had to get it for him. He plays with a balance bike at play group and he loves pushing it along so I thought now would be the perfect time to get him one. The Bike was from Amazon and the basket and bell were bought separately on Amazon as well.

Scooter

What toddler doesn’t love a scooter! Zac got the Yvolution Y Glider Deluxe Kids Scooter. It comes in blue, green and pink. It is really sturdy and well made, and Zac finds it easy to use as it isn’t too heavy. It says suitable for age 3+ but Zac is fairly tall so it is a great height for him and I know he will get lots of use out of it.

Tea set

Zac is really starting to use his imagination. We recently started going to Little City role play classes and I realised how much he was able to use his imagination to make pretend food and even cups of tea! Big Jigs kindly sent Zac this cute little tea set from Green Toys. It is such good quality, it feels really durable. Furthermore it is made from 100% recycled plastic! It is suitable from age 2 which is great as lots of tea sets are age 3+.

Fisher price piggy bank

Zac recently got a piggy bank to save all of his money in and he has been obsessed! So I thought I would buy him his very own piggy bank which he could safely use on his on. Not only is this piggy bank from Frisher Price fun for him to use but it is educational too! It helps to teach toddlers to count as they put the coins in.

Garden Toys

Zac is a March baby which means Spring and Summer aren’t far behind his birthday! Therefore garden toys are a perfect gift to get him, he is able to get plenty of use out of them. This year we have created him a play area in the garden and he got lots of amazing toys for his 2nd birthday. He has a Play house, mud kitchen, sand pit, picnic bench, see-saw, slide and trampoline!

Wooden Skittles

As most of you will know, Zac loves Toy Story. So when Orange Tree Toys sent him these cute wooden Toy Story Skittles he was over the moon!

He quickly learnt to stand them in a line and role the ball to knock them down. It has really helped to improve his hand eye coordination.

Teeter Popper

Zac is really active and a little dare devil! So I just knew he would love this board. So we got him this plastic teeter popper from Fat Brain on Amazon and it was only £30. It is great for practicing balancing.

Train set

Zac loves trains, we have to watch them on TV all day! He got a little train set from Big Jigs Toys as a Christmas Gift. He has played with it almost every day since so for his second birthday he got a few little extra additions to add on including a bridge, tunnel and electric train!
