Travelling as a family with a small toddler can be hard work! There is so much stuff that you need to bring. I thought I would share some of the products we used on our recent holiday, to the Dominican Republic, that we found useful!
Sun Cream Applicator
Putting sun cream on a toddler is no easy task! The Solar Buddies sun cream applicator was a life saver while we were away. We could quickly and easily apply sun cream to Zac before he started having a melt down! You simply fill the applicator with your sun cream, then just rub it on! It has a roller ball in the centre which is surrounded by a sponge which rubs the sun cream in as you apply it.
Tesalate Sand Free Towel
Zac absolutely loved the beach, he would spend all day playing in the sand. So we spent A LOT of time sitting on the beach building sand castles with him. The Tesalate beach towels are made from a special material so that sand doesn’t stick to them! It was perfect for laying on the floor so we could all sit and play without taking half the beach home with us!
UV Clothing
Protecting little ones from the sun is so important, their skin can be really sensitive. We made sure that Zac always wore a UV swimsuit which covered his upper body as well. We also bought him lots of UV hats which shaded his face and covered his neck.
Pool Shoes
I still don’t have the perfect answer to this. Shows to wear around the pool are an absolute must. I get so paranoid about Zac slipping over as he runs around. We bought the Slip Free Pool shoes which are a bit like a non slip sock. They were AMAZING – for the first few days. He didn’t notice they were on and wore them everywhere. But after a few days they did start cutting his feet. So I am still on the hunt for the perfect pool shoes.
Swim Vest
We took the Splash About swim vest away with us and we loved it. It was easy to put on, just zipped up at the front. Zac could move about in it and was comfortable. It kept him a float in the water and gave us peace of mind. Zac struggled to swim in it on his own because he couldn’t quite keep his balance, so we would probably take arm bands as well as the vest next time.
Travel Stroller
If you are travelling with a toddler then a travel stroller is essential! We took the CBX Etu plus to the Dominican Republic. I loved how light weight it was. The best thing is it folds so small that we was able to take it on as hand luggage, so there was no waiting for it at the airport.
Trunki Hand Luggage
Flying with a toddler, especially long haul, requires a lot of in-flight entertainment! The Trunki was perfect for storing lots of toys and snacks for Zac! He loved sitting on it at the airport, we did try to pull him a long on it but he couldn’t quite stay sitting without falling off – oops.
Mosquito Net
I was really worried about Zac getting bitten by a mosquito while we were away so I purchase this cot mosquito net to use. It was a few pounds on eBay and was PEREFECT! It literally just stretches over any cot and protects them from any bugs!
Snooze Shade
We have spoken about the Snooze Shade before. It is one of our favourite travel products for babies and toddlers. It is a UV shade which protect little ones napping around the pool from the sun while still allowing a breeze to keep them cool. Zac isn’t one for napping around the pool so we mostly used it in the evenings so he could sleep while we stayed out enjoying the entertainment.
Those are our top family products to take away on holiday! I will be on the look out for some new handy products for when we next take Zac away. He will be a bit older then and have his own seat on the plane!
Thanks for reading!
