Is it just me or are men hard to buy for?! This year will be Ricky’s second fathers day and I have been searching the internet for weeks trying to decide what to get him.
We try not to go over board with gifts for fathers day and mothers day (we would rather spoil each other on our birthdays or at Christmas).
So here is a compilation of some of the gift ideas I have found!
Personalised
Personalised Mug
I actually made this for Ricky’s first Fathers Day last year. A pottery company came into our baby sensory class and you could choose from mugs, coasters and plates. It was really easy to do! They aren’t cheap (I think this was around £15) but it is a lovely keepsake. There are lots of small businesses that offer these type of personalised gifts so have a search on google for one in your local area!
If you didn’t want to spend so much on a mug, you could get a generic fathers day mug. I love this dinosaur one from Card Factory that comes with a cute dino teddy that Zac will love too.
£3.99 from Card Factory
Personalised Hammer
£20 from Not on the Highstreet
One for the DIY dads! I actually bought one of these for my dad a couple of years ago. Its a cute and practical gift.
Personalised Book
£17.49 from Not on The Highstreet
I love this idea. A cute book personalised to look like your little one and their daddy. I think it makes a great bonding moment as well as they get to read the book together. For a book these aren’t cheap, so you could get an non-personalised book from Aldi in their Fathers Day event for only £2.49!
£2.49 each from Aldi
Dad BBQ Apron
£14.99 from Getting Personal
This is one of the gifts I have decided to order for Ricky this fathers day. We are starting our garden renovation this summer and have finally started getting the BBQ out. Like most dads Ricky is always in charge of the BBQ. So I think this will be a lovely and practical gift he can use! If you wanted to add to this gift Aldi are currently selling a BBQ tool gift set.
£17.99 from Aldi
Clothes
Matching Pyjamas
Matching Peppa Pig Pyjamas from Matalan – £15 and £10
Matching Lion King Pyjamas from Asda – £12.50 and £6
Is there anything cuter than matching pyjamas! There are a few places selling daddy and son/daughter matching sets for Fathers day. I loved this Peppa Pig set from Matalan, I think it was nice that they had both a boy and girl version so if you have a few kids they can all match! This Lion King set from George at Asda is also really cute!
Socks
£2 from Asda
What dad or grandad doesn’t love getting socks as a fathers day gift! cheap, cheerful and at least they will get used!
Children’s Clothes
£2 from Matalan
Ok so I know this isn’t technically a gift for Ricky. But it is showing Zac’s love for him and will make for some cute pictures on Fathers Day. I bought Zac a personalised vest last year for one of Ricky’s first fathers day gifts. This year I am loving this top from Matalan!
DIY Fathers Day Gifts
Hand and Feet Casting
£10 from Aldi
Again this is was something we did last year when Zac was new-born. It’s a lovely gift for a first Fathers Day. I bought this DIY casting kit from Aldi in one of their baby events. You can order casting kits from eBay and Amazon too!
Chocolate Hamper
This is something I think I am going to try and do for Ricky this year! We both have a sweet teeth and love chocolates and sweets! So I am going to stock up on loads of his favourites sweets and chocolates and make him a hamper – if it comes out ok I will share on Instagram!
Other Fathers Day Gifts
Gift Card
I think gift cards are a great gift once you become a parent. Whether its for a clothe shop, a restaurant or just Costa coffee! As parents we aren’t very good at putting ourselves first and spending money on us. If I said to Ricky that for Fathers Day he can go on a spending spree, buy some new clothes, go for a day out or for a meal, it would never end up happening because we end up prioritising different things. With a gift card it makes sure they we do treat ourselves and spend the money life we said we would.
If you order your gift card from Highstreetvouchers.com then you also get a free gift card!
Experiences and Tickets
What do you buy someone who has everything? Memories and experiences!
For Ricky’s main present I am thinking of booking him an experience. (For Mothers Day he booked me to go a spa which was an amazing idea!).
Some experience ideas:
- Football stadium tour (we booked this for Ricky’s dad before)
- Escape room
- Sport car driving
- Paintball
- Wine tasting
- London boat ride
I am looking at booking either the Crystal maze experience in London or an escape room for Ricky – not sure which one yet! I will be booking on Buyagift.
Balloons
£2.49 from Card Factory
Ok again this isn’t exactly for Ricky but we always get each other balloons because Zac loves playing with them!
I hope you have found some of these suggestions useful!

We went for cuff links as he can rock them at work each day! Personalised books I am already looking forward to making next year when baby is older to understand
Great ideas! I love the personalised mug one, wish I’d done that for Mila now but I’ve left it way too late 🤣
