What toddler doesn’t love space and planets?! Zac is really into space at the moment and surprisingly knows a few planet names too! He has a poster in his room with the planets on that we have been using, but I wanted to create him a more interactive activity we could do together. I decided to make an activity sheet where he could stick the planets on in order. He is a little young to know the order yet but I thought it is something that we could continue to use as he learns.
The planet activity printable has detachable planets and planet names. The main sheet has the planet outlines on so, even without knowing the order, they can match up the sizes. It gives us the opportunity to talk about the planets – theirs sizes and shapes which will help him identify them in future! I have tried to make the planet colours and patterns as accurate as possible whilst still remaining toddler friendly and easily identifiable.
I created the activity sheets using the Canva website. It is great for making free activities for toddlers as they have lots of different images available to use!

You can download the whole activity here for FREE, you will just need to follow the steps listed further down to create the activity at home.
The printable planet activity comes as 3 sheets.
Sheet 1: The completed planet poster. This is just to use as a reference so they can see how it should look when completed.
Sheet 2: The blank planet sheet. This is a blank space image with just the outlines of the planets. They can stick the planets from sheet 3 on here.
Sheet 3: The planets and names. This sheet has all of the components that will need to be printed and cut out to use the planet activity.
What you will need to make the Planet Activity at home
You will need:
- A colour printer
- Scissors
- Laminator
I ordered a laminator from Amazon and it is perfect! it is really compact but big enough to laminate an A4 sheet. It has a guillotine built in on top which makes cutting sheets super easy! it also comes with some laminating pouches and a corner rounder (stop any sharp corners)
You can order the laminator I used HERE
- Velcro dots
These little dots are so handy when making any activity sheets like these! They are little round velcro dots that you can stick on any sheets to create a little puzzle.
You can order the Velcro Dots HERE.
