When we first moved into our home, the main bedroom was a (not so) lovely combination of blue walls and gaudy brown floral wallpaper – not my taste at all!
After forking out for a house deposit, solicitors fees and all the necessities (fridge freezers, sofas, TV’s etc) it didn’t leave much money for decorating. So we just did a bit of a quick fix.
All of the windows in the house needed to be changed so we started by just changing the front windows from a dark brown to white. We stripped the walls, re-wallpapered (with something a little more neutral) and laid a new carpet. We decided to go for a cream theme, and at the time I was pretty happy with it! We tried to keep the room as spacious and open as possible by using light colours and keeping furniture to a minimum. We had a spare bedroom at the time so put our wardrobe in there to save space in our room.
The dream was to have mirrored furniture. But this was way out of budget! So instead we got some cheap second hand wooden furniture from the Facebook Marketplace and Ricky painted it all white and added crystal handles.
Fast forward 5 years and we decided to finally re-decorate the bedroom just the way we wanted it! A modern grey and white room with mirrored furniture and a gorgeous dressing area (This was the dream).
Wardrobes
Our spare room has become Zac’s bedroom which also meant we had to relocate our wardrobe into our bedroom. In order to maximise space we decided to have fitted wardrobes. We got some quotes from a few different companies but quotes were in the region of £3-5k which was WAY out of budget!
So instead we did a bit of a DIY job – actually more of a DBD job (Done by Dad haha). We purchased the IKEA Pax wardrobes and fitted them ourselves.
Wallpaper
The next job was the walls. Luckily we had already had them re-plastered when we first moved in, so we just had to paint and re-wallpaper. We decided to paint the walls white to keep the room bright. We chose the Silver Industrial textured wallpaper from wallpaper sales (*gifted) and I absolutely LOVE it. It looks so luxurious and creates a gorgeous feature wall.
Carpet
We chose a new carpet from a local carpet salesman (worked out much cheaper than going to a large Carpet store!). We chose a medium grey which gave those gorgeous carpet lines you see all over insta (I can’t be the only person who described the carpet they want as “one that gives carpet lines”? haha)
Bed
We were lucky enough to work with Arista Living on our bed. You guys know I love storage so we went for one with Extra Ottoman storage. I then chose a gorgeous rollback top in the light grey chenille. On Arista Living you can design your bed just how you want it, there are lots of base, headboard and colour options!
Bedding & Cushions
We have gone for a simple white bedding (It is actually just a cheap set from eBay!) but have added some decorative cushions. The large silver ones are from B&M, The central silver & white one was *gifted from Morrisons and the small marble and glittery ones are from Matalan. I am still on the hunt for a nice throw to compliment the cushions!
For the bedside tables we had quite a hard time finding some that would fit! They had to be fairly narrow so that Ricky could still open his wardrobe door! We found these small mirrored ones on Homesdirect365. They were in the sale for £75 each (not cheap!) and delivery took quite a while, but they are the perfect size!
Bedroom Lights
Our bedside lamps and matching main ceiling light are from Next. They are the palazzo smoked range. We actually got a bargain on the ceiling light as I found it in a Choice Outlet!
Dressing Area
When we first moved out one of the things I was most excited about was having a proper dressing area to get ready every morning. Since losing our spare room we didn’t have much space for a dressing table but I have managed to create the most beautiful small dressing space!
My dressing table is actually a floating mirrored console table. It has a very generous size drawer which I have organised using some cheap dividers from eBay! For the larger items which did not fit in the drawer I have used a cute set or storage trunks which I was kindly *gifted from Morrisons home. My make-up brushes are in an acrylic organiser which was only £3.99 from Aldi!
My gorgeous grey crushed velvet dressing chair is from Sue Ryder (*gifted). Did you know that they actually sell beautiful brand new items on their website like this! Sue Ryder supports people through the most difficult times of their lives, whether that’s a terminal illness, the loss of a loved one or a neurological condition. 100% of the profits from this chair help provide essential palliative, neurological and bereavement support.
My dressing table is finally complete thanks to Essex Creations 3118. They kindly created the most beautiful Hollywood mirror for me (*gifted). It has literally been my dream to have one of these mirrors and now I have it I love it even more! It is so well made and the lights are even dimmable to create the perfect lighting! Essex Creations 3118 are a lovely local company in Essex if you are looking for a Hollywood Mirror I would highly recommend you check out their Facebook Page!
This beautiful print on the wall above my dressing area, would you believe was just £1 from Poundland and the A3 frame was about £8 from B&M!
I am so pleased with how my our bedroom has come together! There are still a few finishing touches to add but I am completely in LOVE !
Hope you have enjoyed having a little nosey at my bedroom and thanks for reading!
Looks so stylish yet comfortable
