Packing for a Toddler

Packing for a Toddler

We are off to Cornwall today YAY!!!

It’s not the Caribbean but it is a nice family week away, and believe it or not I actually think I have packed more for 1 week in Cornwall than 2 weeks abroad!

The problem with holidaying in the UK is you cannot predict the weather! Despite it being June we have had a mix of sunshine, rain and thunderstorms. So I am having to prepare for all possible weather conditions.

I thought I would run you through everything I have packed for Zac for our week away. I make so many lists when it comes to packing, I like to be organised and worry in case I forget something.
When writing my lists I make sure I categorise everything so I will break down everything I have packed into the categories on my list!

Bedtime

Bed Time Essentials

So the first category is bedtime. I wanted to make sure I have everything we could possibly need to make sure Zac’s sleeps like he usually would at home.

The most essential thing is obviously a travel cot! We are staying in a house on a holiday park in Cornwall. You can rent a proper cot from the holiday park but the rooms aren’t very big and to save a bit of money we thought it would be best to bring our travel cot.

Zac is used to sleeping in his own bedroom at night so we were a little concerned about how he will sleep sharing a room with us. We were lucky enough to be gifted a sleep shade from Snooze Shade, this is a shade which goes over his travel cot. Not only will this ensure it is dark in there I am hoping it will stop him from waking up and easily seeing us and wanting to play!

We were also gifted a Gro Blind from the Gro Company. Zac has a blackout blind at home this portable blackout curtain will make sure the sun doesn’t wake him up in the morning (yes we are praying for sun!).

Some other essentials include his sleeping bag and a light weight blanket in case it gets too warm for his sleeping bag. This gorgeous personalise blanket is from a lovely company called That’s Mine.

Next are the things that bring him comfort, these include his snuggle soother which holds on to his dummy, his taggy blankets from Bea’spoke, and his night light from Nuby.

I have also packed him 7 pairs of pyjamas and 7 short sleeved vests to wear at night (I did consider bringing less pyjamas but I was worried in case he had any accidents!)

Bathtime

Bathtime essentials

Out bathtime essentials include a bath mat to stop Zac slipping over, Childs Farm shampoo, a scrunchie, his Gro Towel and his MAM toothbrush.

Meal Times

Meal Time Essentials

Meal times will be a mixture of eating at the house and sometimes eating while we are out of going for meals. For when we are at the house I have packed Zac’s Messy Me mat (To stop the food going on the floor) and his Apramo Flippa chair. I absolutely love this chair, it fold up so compact so it is really easy to take away. He can sit on the floor using it or it can strap onto a chair.

Essentials include his Bamboo Bamboo plate and bowel (I love the suction on these), Cutlery and his Baby Panda bibs (these are so easy to clean).

Zac doesn’t really have a bottle anymore now that he is on cows milk. He has his milk in his Tommee Tippee cup and his water in his Nuby 360 cups. I have also packed his daily vitamins for him to have in his milk.

I have also packed Zac’s new apple corer. If you have watched my Instagram stories you will know Zac loves an apple – a bit too much! He eats the whole thing, so I bought this £1.99 apple corer from eBay (apparently apple cores are bad for you!).

Lastly I have packed his lunchbox for days when we will be having lunch out. This cute personalised lunch box is from Millie and Blake (ZAC10 will get you a discount).

Clothes

This was a really difficult one! I have had to pack clothes suitable for all weather conditions!

Summer Rompers

If we are lucky enough to get some sunshine and it is warm out then I have packed Zac some cute rompers and short dungaree sets. These are from Vertbaudet.

Colder Clothes

Jackets

If it is a bit chilly I have packed Zac some long sleeve lounge sets and dungarees. I have also packed him some light jackets to wear and a rain coat just in case!

Mix and Match Clothes

To try and save some space and reduce the amount of clothes we needed to take, I have tried to mix and match some outfits. For example I have paired up each of Zac’s t-shirts with both a pair of long leggings and a pair of shorts – so I can choose which bottoms he wears on the day depending on the weather.

Folding Clothes

I think folding clothes can be the key to maximising space in your suitcase. I have a couple of clothes folders which I bought from eBay. We have a large one for our clothes and a smaller version for Zac’s. They make sure the clothes are all neatly and compactly folded! They are so easy to use too!

Shoes & Accessories

Shoes

Accessories

I had to laugh when I was packing Zac’s shoes and accessories. I really have packed for every possible weather condition!

He has Sandals for warm weather with his sunglasses and a hat. Then he has his welly boots and woolly hate for if it is cold and rainy!

Beach / Pool

Swimming Essentials

Whilst we are there we will definitely be visiting the swimming pool and hopefully the beach! I have taken Zac both a pair of swimming trunks for the swimming pool and a UV suit from Vertbaudet for the beach. He has Asda swim nappies (usually we use Huggies but have been told these are better – and cheaper!). I have also packed him a poncho beach towel (From TK Maxx), a romper to wear at the beach, a bucket and spade (I’m not paying triple the price at the beach!) and his Childs Farm sun cream.

Out & About

We will be taking our MyBabiie stroller as this is light weight and compact to take in the car (I have also remembered to pack the rain cover just in case!)

Smart Trike

Now Zac is walking he doesn’t really like being in a pram so we are also going to be taking his new SmarTrike that we have been gifted recently! I am hoping he will find this more fun than the pram and not mind being in it!

Pram Essentials

For days when he will be in his pram we will be attaching some toys to keep him occupied! One of the most important things we will be bringing is our new Snooze Shade! This will keep Zac shaded in his pram if we do get some sun and maybe even help him have a nap while we are out!

Toys

Toys

I didn’t want to pack too many big toys so we have just chosen some of Zac’s favourites! He will have his baby, some cars and some dinosaurs! As well as a couple of balls for them to kick about outside (although I think the dads will be playing with these more)

And that  is pretty much everything we are bringing for Zac! The only thing I haven’t mentioned is the essentials/every day such as:

  • Nappies
  • Wet Wipes
  • Nappy Sacks
  • Nappy Rash cream
  • Calpol/Neurofen
  • Teething liquid
  • Dummies

I am hoping I haven’t forgot anything but if you do notice anything very obvious that I have missed then please let me know before 7pm! haha

Thank you for reading and hope you found it useful!
