Ricky’s Q&A

Ricky’s Q&A

So this week I thought I would let Ricky get in on the blogging action! Majority of my followers and blogs I read are from us mums, so I thought it would be good to get things from a dads perspective.

You guys asked questions on my Instagram story and here are Ricky’s answers….

1. If you were solo choosing, would you have chosen a different name for Zac?

Hmm, Yeah I probably would have! I loved the name Jesse so he probably would have been called that (Even though my mum hated it)

2. What is your favourite memory of your life with Chantelle before Zac was born?

Our luxury adult only holidays! Our best ever holiday was our honeymoon in Jamaica over New Years.

3. What’s your favourite thing about being a dad?

Having someone to play with lol.

4. Was you worried about the birth and how did you cope?

Honestly, I was scared! but I pretended that I wasn’t, I put on a brave face and acted like I wasn’t worried and it would be easy. I was the only person in the room (other than midwives) so had to get on with it and I think I coped well!

5. What is it like being a father?

Its a huge added responsibility. You cant put yourself first anymore and everything you do is for them. But it is the best thing in the world.

6. Do you wish you could stay at home instead?

I wish I could be at home with Chantelle and Zac, I don’t think i’d cope on my own lol

7. What is the hardest thing about being a new parent?

Not getting sleep during the night at the start! I really struggled with the night feeds.

8. Have you got any tips for good time management with a job and baby?

I used to do a lot of overtime but now I don’t do as much because I prioritise family time. I also make sure we make plans to do things at the weekend, I take Zac’s swimming lessons every Saturday and go to the daddy baby sensory classes at a weekend when I can.

9. What was your first thought when your son was born?

I’m not sure what I thought but I just remember being overwhelmed and feeling this unconditional love. It was an amazing and surreal feeling.

10. How long did it take you to get used to being a dad?

It took quite a while really. I didn’t feel confident to start with and it didn’t start to feel natural for at least a couple of months!

11. How old was you when you became a dad?

I was 24 when Chantelle fell pregnant and 25 when Zac was born

Thank you to everyone that asked questions and hope you enjoyed reading things from a dads point of view!
