Toy Story Bedroom

Toy Story Bedroom

As most of you will know Zac is completely Toy Story obsessed. So, seeing as we were buying him a new ‘big boy bed’ (after he fell out of his cot!), we thought we would give his room a bit of a makeover. When deciding on the theme we just knew he had to have a Toy Story bedroom!

Toy Story Bedroom Cloud Wall

We wanted to try and keep the redecorating quite low budget, as who knows he may decide her prefers Monsters inc. or Frozen next year! For the same reason, we also decided to not buy wallpaper, or anything too permanent. Instead we painted the walls white – with one blue feature wall. The blue paint we used was the GoodHome Matt Emulsion paint from B&Q in the shade Frejus. It went on really easily and had good coverage.

I then ordered some cloud wall stickers from eBay, to create the Toy Story wallpaper effect! I thought these were a really great, and cheap, alternative to buying wallpaper. In hindsight I probably should have bought a cloud stencil and painted them on, as Zac has attempted to peel them off a few times!

In addition to the cloud wall stickers, I also ordered some Toy Story army men stickers to dot around the room. I used them on the door frame and light switch, to add a bit more detail to these empty spaces.

Toy Story Wall Plaque

One of my favourite features in his room, and what I think sets it off the most, is the large Toy Story wall plaque. This is a bespoke, personalised wooden plaque from Rock Jumper on Etsy. It is so well made and I think it really makes the room. They also made the wooden Toy Story Bedroom sign on his door.

On the feature wall we added two cloud shelves. I ordered these from eBay, they aren’t the most amazing quality but they do the job and look great! It gives us another space to add some Toy Story bedroom decor. On the shelves we put some small Toy Story figures and a Hamm Piggy Bank. The name blocks are ones I bought for his nursery before he was born, I just repainted them in bright colours using acrylic paint!

We also had a gorgeous felt name garland made in the Toy Story colours to hang from the shelves. This was from a small business called Little Pretties on Instagram.

I felt like the wall still looked a little bare, so had the idea to put Zac’s Woody costume and hat on there too! I ordered two small cloud hooks from eBay to match the wall. We also used another two of these cloud hooks on the back of his door to hang his Toy Story back pack and dressing gown. These are just every day items he already had but they helped to add to theme!

Toy Story Prints

The wall as you walk into Zac’s bedroom is quite bare. His wardrobe and radiator are on this wall, so it is difficult to put anything in this area. To add some character we hung two A3 Toy Story prints on the wall. The prints are from Cosbears on Etsy and we have put them in frameless clip frames which I bought on eBay!

Reading Corner

We kept Zac’s existing book shelves, but gave his reading corner a DIY make-over. We painted his READ letters in the primary Toy Story colours. I also added a cute pom pom garland from Merino with Love. His Toy box/seat is from Dreambox Toyboxes – but we gave it a little makeover by using some left over fabric from his curtains to cover the seat! The Toy Story cushions are from Dunelm and Next.

To keep costs down we kept Zac’s original grey carpet. We were lucky it was quite a neutral, and practical colour, so it worked well in the new room! I ordered a Sheriff Woody star rug from Next to make it a little bit less boring!

Toy Story Bed

I really struggled finding a bed that I loved. We wanted a single bed rather than a toddler bed so that it would last longer. I also wanted a bed with storage underneath, because you can never have enough storage when you have kids!

In the end we bought the Freddie Cabin bed from Argos, and then the Toy Story cube boxes to go underneath to make it more exciting! One side of the underbed storage was supposed to be a shelf, but we just didn’t fit this when putting it together so we could use all 4 of the storage boxes. We didn’t want to buy an actual Toy Story bed because we wanted the bed frame to be neutral and last quite a while!

I am not a fan of beds without a headboard so we picked up a white wooden headboard from Facebook marketplace and just attached it to the frame! The wooden bed rail was also another Facebook find.

Zac has 2 different bed sets, one is from Argos and the blue one pictured is from Amazon. He also has the matching curtains!

Toy Storage

You guys know I am a huge fan of Toy Storage, I love everything to have a place and to be organised. I have already mentioned the cube boxes we have from Argos under the bed. We also have an Ikea Kallax unit, which is neatly labelled thanks to Berry Personal Designs!

On top of the Kallax unit we have a set of the Giant Lego storage blocks from A Place for Everything. They are filled with all of Zac’s different building blocks. They are such a cool way to organise Lego and building blocks. We can get one box out at a time and they look really cute when stored away!

Zac has a LOT of teddies and soft toys, we have split these between a storage tub and toy hammock. The Toy Story alien storage tub is from Dunelm, it looks really cute and goes with the bedroom theme, but unfortunately isn’t big enough to hold everything. So, in addition to this we bought a cheap toy hammock from Amazon. It was such a great space saving way to store them all as we hung it over the top of his ball pit.

I am so pleased with how Zac’s Toy Story bedroom turned out. It is exactly as I envisioned and he loved it! We managed to do all of it on quite a low budget too which is great!

I hope you found this blog useful and thank you for reading!
